Masterworks Series
Stewart Goodyear, piano
Peter Bay, conductor
Long Center's Dell Hall

Beethoven's famous Emperor  Piano Concerto will be performed at the hands of Stewart Goodyear, proclaimed "a phenomenon" by the Los Angeles Times. The concert opens with Lyric for Strings by Pulitzer Prize winner George Walker, considered one of America's greatest composers. William Grant Still's expressive 5th Symphony, Western Hemisphere, paints a beautiful picture as he describes it as, "when the new day dawns, the lands of the Western Hemisphere are raised from the bosom of the Atlantic."

PARKING ALERT FOR SATURDAY, MARCH 12: There will be extra pedestrian traffic and Palmer Garage congestion.  The ASO recommends arriving early (between 6:00-7:00 p.m.). Overflow parking is available at One Texas Center located at 505 Barton Springs Rd.

PROGRAM:
GEORGE WALKER - Lyric for Strings
WILLIAM GRANT STILL - Symphony No. 5, Western Hemisphere
LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN - Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat Major, Op. 73, Emperor
